Student Correspondence and Artwork

Lorna enjoys receiving comments and questions from piano students who are learning her pieces. Artwork and quotes below were sent to Lorna by piano students, through their teachers. The colourful drawings are created by students who learned some of her animal pieces. Enjoy!

“Scherzo is one of my favourite pieces! I like bars 15 and 16 because they are like my math computer game. I am glad I have an autographed book from the real composer.”
-Katrina, age 8, Sherwood Park, Alberta

“I love your music! I personally think Bird of Paradise and Laughing Hyenas are very well written and also very exciting!  Lately, I have played Toucan, Kinkajou and Ring-tailed Lemur. All of these pieces are wonderfully built and composed.  My favourite is Ring-tailed Lemur because it is flashy and fast.”
-Nathan, grade 5, Appleton, Wisconsin, USA

“I enjoyed playing Boo! because I liked the mysterious sounds in the bass clef. I also enjoyed playing the duet Nothing Up My Sleeve because the Secondo & Primo parts sounded really cool together.”
-Eliana, age 10, Victoria, British Columbia

“I am playing Wallabies on Parade, Swinging Apes and The Loon.  I can SEE the apes when I play Swinging Apes. I like these pieces because they are fun to play. I think you do a really good job of writing your pieces.”
-Meredith, age 11, Port Williams, Nova Scotia

“I enjoyed playing Waltzing Pandas for our June recital! I like the way you wrote the piece in ABA form! It is fun to switch to playing the black keys up to measure 15.”
-Clara, age 9, Edmonton, Alberta
